Out-of-State Toll Violators

If you have a non-Georgia license plate and received a toll violation from SRTA or Professional Account Management LLC., this means that a Peach Pass was not detected in a vehicle registered in your name while using the Georgia Express Lanes. If you do not pay the outstanding charges, you face escalating fines and penalties.

Final Demand Letters

If you have received a Final Demand letter from SRTA this means that SRTA previously forwarded notices to you regarding Peach Pass toll violations that you have failed to pay. If you do not timely pay the amount due for all violations listed in the Final Demand letter then SRTA will refer the matter of your unpaid toll violations to the Office of State Administrative Hearings. Failure to timely pay the total amount due could also lead to incurring additional civil penalties and the suspension of your vehicle registration.

What are Toll Violations?

Users of the Georgia Express Lanes are subject to all applicable traffic laws of the State of Georgia, as well as the rules and regulations of the Georgia Department of Transportation. Toll violations occur when users of the lanes do not comply with the rules governing use of the toll facilities. For each toll violation, vehicle owners are responsible for the unpaid tolls and administrative fees as defined in the SRTA customer agreement. See the customer agreement for a list of toll violations.

Examples of Toll Violations

  • Using a Georgia Express Lane without a valid Peach Pass transponder
  • Entering or exiting a Georgia Express Lane improperly by crossing the double white lines
  • Using a Georgia Express Lane with an unregistered vehicle. All vehicles, even toll exempt vehicles, must be registered for a Peach Pass account with transponders placed on the windshields (motorcycle transponders can be placed on lights) before using the lanes
  • Using a Georgia Express Lane when there are insufficient funds in your account
  • Adjusting the toll mode listed on a Peach Pass account to reflect more than three occupants and then driving in the lanes with less than three occupants (applies to I-85 Express Lanes only)
  • Accessing a Georgia Express Lane in a vehicle other than one included in your Peach Pass account.
  • Using a deactivated Peach Pass

Keeping your Peach Pass account information up to date will help you avoid toll violations. Toll violations can be avoided by following these steps:

  • Register for a Peach Pass account
  • Follow the mounting instructions for the Peach Pass once your account has been established
  • Sign up for online access at www.mypeachpass.com to keep track of transactions, balances and account status
  • Update your account to reflect any changes in vehicles, credit or debit cards, license plates, account holder names, addresses and contact information. Most violations occur when users do not update their accounts when getting new credit or debit cards or new license plates
  • Check your account regularly at www.mypeachpass.com to confirm transactions or account status
  • Pay attention to Peach Pass email alerts or written notifications regarding your account
  • Call the Peach Pass Customer Service Center at 1-855-PCH-PASS (724-7277) with questions about violations or account issues

Summary of Administrative Fees, Civil Penalties and Vehicle Registration Suspension

Failure to pay the proper toll on a toll facility is a violation of O.C.G.A. § 32-10-64 (c)(1). In such event, the registered owner of the vehicle is liable to make prompt payment to the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) for the proper toll and an administrative fee of $25 per violation to recover the cost of collecting the toll.

Failure to make timely payment of the proper toll and the administrative fee will result in SRTA referring the matter to a collections agency. Subsequently, if there are multiple failures by a registered owner of a vehicle to pay the proper toll and administrative fee after notice thereof and within the designated time in such notices, SRTA may refer the matter to the Office of State Administrative Hearings (OSAH).

If OSAH determines there were multiple failures to pay the proper toll and administrative fee by the registered owner, then OSAH will enter a judgment requiring the registered owner to pay all unpaid tolls and administrative fees and additional civil penalties of up to $70 per violation.

If the registered owner fails to pay all tolls, administrative fees and civil penalties, within 30 days of the notice of OSAH’s judgment, then the motor vehicle registration of such registered owner shall be immediately suspended by operation of law.
