I-75 Northwest Corridor
The Northwest Corridor Express Lanes are 30 miles of reversible toll lanes along the I-75/I-575 corridor from Akers Mill Road to Hickory Grove Road along I-75 and along I-575 from I-75 to Sixes Road. This facility includes two express lanes on the west side of the existing lanes along I-75 between I-285 and I-575. At the I-75/I-575 split, one express lane continues northbound in the median on both I-75 north and I-575.
Reversible express lanes are toll lanes where the direction of traffic flow can be changed to help manage congestion and increase capacity. While the direction of travel is set based on peak commuting hours, the direction can be changed to assist with traffic flow for major events, incidents, or hurricane evacuations to ensure the lanes flow in the direction with the greatest travel demand. Georgia’s reversible express lanes schedules are set by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and are subject to change. Daily reversals are performed by GDOT’s HERO units and take approximately 2 hours to complete.
Georgia’s Reversible Express Lanes run around the clock and the direction of the reversible lanes is determined by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). Because the I-75 Northwest Corridor Express Lanes are reversible, the northbound and southbound directions follow an approximate schedule. We sometimes make temporary changes to the schedule for holidays, area events, or incidents. Click here for the detailed reversal schedule.
